Working closely with Manchester Roller Derby (MRD) since 2011, Shirlaine has documented many of the key events in recent roller derby history.

 

This book, a collection of photographs shot over ten years aims to capture the fast-paced live action of this exciting contact sport, the unparalleled camaraderie off-track and the inspirational spirit of roller derby’s individual skaters.  Shirlaine has also found an outlet for more abstract concepts, using skaters as muses for creative portraits.  If you’re not familiar with roller derby, the fastest growing sport in the UK, as MRD’s Official Photographer, Shirlaine will introduce you to a cast of unique characters you will grow to love and an electric atmosphere you’ll want to be a part of.
